Famvir® Famciclovir Tablet is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by Feline Herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1) in cats. FHV-1 is a common viral pathogen responsible for feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR), an upper respiratory tract infection that can cause significant morbidity, especially in young, immunocompromised, or stressed cats.
Famciclovir is particularly beneficial in managing acute ocular and respiratory symptoms, as well as chronic or recurrent FHV-1 infections, including conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, nasal discharge, sneezing, and lethargy.
Famciclovir is often used in cases where cats have not responded adequately to supportive care or when the disease significantly impairs the cat’s quality of life. It is also considered a first-line antiviral therapy in cases of feline herpes-associated keratitis.
