Amoxicillin-clavulanic acid is a broad-spectrum, penicillin-type antibiotic used to treat infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

The combination of a penicillin-class antibiotic with a beta­lactamase inhibitor is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections resistant to amoxicillin alone. It is used in cases of respiratory tract infections, pyoderma, urinary tract infections, and bite wounds.
